Esther graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2001 with a B.Sc (Hon) degree in Occupational Therapy. She has worked in Hong Kong (hand rehabilitation, work rehabilitation and cognitive rehabilitation), and the United Kingdom (medical rehabilitation). Before coming to NUH, Esther served in a local special school for students with autism and mild intellectual disability.

Esther loves to cook for her family and friends. She enjoys painting in her free time, and when possible, traveling to experience different cultures and lifestyles. She is currently pursuing a part-time Masters in Health Science (OT) at the University of Sydney.
